The Sun Messengers will perform at the 2007 St. John Hospital and Medical Center Music on The Plaza concert series on Thursday, July 12th. The concerts are free and take place at 7:00 p.m. on The Village Festival Plaza located at the corner of Kercheval and St. Clair in The Village, Downtown Grosse Pointe.
The Sun Messengers are an eight-piece, horn-driven Rhythm and Blues show band that has been one of the most popular groups in the Detroit area since they were formed in 1980. They have backed such artists as The Drifters, Martha Reeves, The Falcons and Earl King and have been the house band for Detroit Pistons home games since 1996. They have been the featured band at Music on The Plaza for nineteen consecutive years.
These free concerts are presented by St. John Hospital and Medical Center and are produced by the Grosse Pointe Village Association. In case of rain, the concerts will be held at Maire Elementary School, 740 Cadieux Rd., 2 blocks west of St. Clair.
