Interim Flint Mayor Michael Brown recently suggested a radical solution to the city’s budgetary problems- maybe the city needs to shut down sections of town to save money on city services. He's since said there’s no plan in the works, but could this work? We’ll talk with Robin Boyle, Chair of the Dept. of Geography and Urban Planning at Wayne State University. It’s a bad time for rate increases, but DTE says they may be forced to raise electricity rates as much as 11% this year. We’ll ask why. Clearly, it’s high time for alternative energy development. We’ll discuss the plans of three groundbreaking companies that competed in the DTE Energy and the University of Michigan Clean Energy Prize Competition , with plans to create energy out of everything from plant waste… to human waste.

Detroit needs to do this instead of caving to developers and giving them land.
City-owned = nothing happens with, no income
