U-A-W Region One-A in Taylor will host a start-up business conference in early May. The event is designed to help workers and retirees access funds from the Federal stimulus package and other sources. Presenters include officials from the Governor’s Office for Southeast Michigan…and the Small Business Administration. Business and marketing consultant Tarsha Weary is organizing the event. Weary says connecting U-A-W members with start-up capital makes sense:

“Their industry is being hit hardest…and so if we can get this information to them and give them options…I think it will be very valuable especially with the stimulus package and the recovery act…there’s so many grants available.”

U-A-W officials say the crisis in the auto industry…is forcing them to reach beyond their traditional mission to help members. This is Sarah Cwiek…WDET news.
