Scott Loses... but the Fight Continues
Aug 6, 2008
General

The third place finisher for Michigan’s 13th congressional district says the fight isn’t over.

Martha G. Scott’s primary day started early. The State Senator says she was up early Tuesday morning… stopping at voting precincts in downtown Detroit and downriver before ending the day with a rally of core supporters at the Ravendale Community Center on Detroit’s eastside.

Scott, who has held elected office for over 30 years including time as mayor of Highland Park and several terms in the State House, says it was important to run against the incumbent – Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.

"It has always been about good government. I am proud and pleased at how our campaign ran. We had very little but I will never just take on one person to say that they are responsible. It’s about all of us. It’s about us being able to have a better life.”

Scott still has two years left on her term in the state senate.

She says her future plans are to continue advocating for cheaper car and home insurance premiums for Detroiters… as well as health care for those in need.
