The downturn in the US auto industry and manufacturing jobs outsourced overseas has mired Michigan in an economic recession for several years now.
But the troubled economy is also eroding so-called “high-tech” companies in Michigan.
The state’s Labor and Growth Department reports Michigan lost more than six-thousand jobs in areas like engineering and computer programming during 2008.
