Dec 15, 2008

Mayor Jack Kirksey - File Photo

The Mayor of Livonia is asking his residents to show Washington they support loans for the auto industry.

Mayor Jack Kirksey says the health of the auto industry is critical to his community.

“Ford Motor Company is our number one taxpayer and General Motors is number two. Ford Motor Company is also our number one employer. So, their success is critically important to the future of the city.”

Kirksey says including suppliers about 18,000 people are employed by the auto related companies in Livonia.

Therefore, the Mayor is calling on the residents of Livonia and beyond to contact the White House by e-mail, phone or letter and ask the President to act fast to aid the domestic auto industry during its hard economic times.
