Lincoln Mercury unveiled its latest offerings at the North American International Auto Show, this morning.

In a presentation inside Cobo Arena filled with smoke and light, Lincoln announced several updates, one new car and a concept vehicle. This summer, the nameplate will release updated versions of the four-door MKS and MKZ sedans… and the MKX crossover. Lincoln also introduced the MKT crossover. The new seven-seater follows the automaker’s recent success with the Ford Flex – a runner up for North American Car of the Year honors. Lincoln also unveiled its Lincoln C Concept car.

Ford Motor Company President Mark Fields says the C feeds into a general feeling among motorists… that higher gas prices will be in their future.

“Five years ago coming out with a luxury concept with a 1.6 liter engine, we probably would have been laughed off the stage and this time, hopefully, we’ll be applauded for it.”

Fields says the Lincoln C marries the nameplate’s luxury concepts within a sporty, smaller car with excellent fuel economy. Fields says there are no plans to mass produce the C Concept at this time. But aspects of the vehicle, like on-board integrated, interactive computer technology, could end up in other Lincolns in the near future.
