Kilpatrick Lawyers Go On The Offensive
May 1, 2008
Metro Desk - Link to Audio

Although the document has already been released…Kilpatrick’s lawyers want to appeal Judge Robert Colombo’s decision. The legal document in question was delivered to the Mayor shortly before he and his lawyers agreed to settle the whistleblowers lawsuit for more than eight-million dollars.  The document contains transcripts of text messages that contradicted Kilpatrick’s testimony during the trial. Newly retained defense lawyer James Parkman says Judge Colombo was mistaken.

“there was already settlement procedure taking place during all of this. All of the lawyers…all the lawyers in the case had said were right in the middle…we all want to settle this thing…lets settle it.”

Parkman also dismissed claims by Wayne Prosecutor Kym Worthy that she has witnesses that can attest to the authenticity of the text messages. He says if one reads between the lines…Worthy’s statements were a plea for help. I’m Noah Ovshinsky, WDET News.
