Detroit’s automakers are posting dramatically lower sales figures for the month of November.  Detroit Public Radio’s Jerome Vaughn has more.

General Motors sold just under 155,000 cars and trucks in the U-S last month.  That’s down 41 percent from November 2007.

The automaker says the global financial crisis, the resulting drop in consumer confidence and tightening credit have decimated sales.

Ford vehicle sales fell nearly 31 percent for the month.  Demand for the company’s trucks dropped heavily, despite the introduction of the new 2009 F-150.

Chrysler sales fell 47 percent compared to year ago figures.

The CEO’s of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler will appear before Congress later this week.  They’re asking for approval of a multi-billion dollar federal loan package.
