WSU President Jay NorenThe “Big Three” of Michigan’s universities are joining forces for research.
The University of Michigan, Michigan State and Wayne State Universities signed on to an agreement last month called the University Research Corridor.
Wayne State President Dr. Jay Noren says the corridor’s first project is on the future of fuels.
“What we’ve done is we have put up a million dollars to help fund joint facility projects on alternative energy.”
Noren says the Michigan corridor follows the model of North Carolina Research Triangle. The 50 year old model partners UNC, North Carolina State and Duke Universities. Noren says six different areas of country have these university research efforts and have been incubators for new patents, innovations and economic development.
