City officials, community leaders and business owners are urging holiday shoppers to “Shop Detroit”.
The program, now in its 20th year, is aimed at keeping residents dollars in the City of Detroit.
Jeffrey Axt is owner of the Biz-R Collection in the New Center Area. He says Detroit should be a unique destination for shoppers… not an obligation.
“We want folks to shop Detroit this holiday season because it’s interesting and as a byproduct of that we’ll be helping the city we love so much.”
In order to get people into Detroit’s shopping districts, the city is offering two hours free parking in some areas and discount coupons for some stores through the end of the month.
